Munich Airport (MUC), located just northeast of Munich in Bavaria, is one of Germany’s busiest and most modern airports. As the second-busiest airport in the country after Frankfurt, Munich serves as a major hub for both domestic and international travelers. Situated approximately 30 kilometers (about 19 miles) from the city center, the airport is strategically positioned to handle a high volume of air traffic, making it a vital link in Europe’s aviation network. The airport features two parallel runways, designated as 08L/26R and 08R/26L, with plans for a third runway long in discussion. Munich Airport handles around 45 million passengers annually (pre-pandemic figures), placing it among the top ten busiest airports in Europe. Munich Airport is well-known not only for its operational efficiency but also for its passenger experience. The airport has won numerous awards for its service, cleanliness, and amenities—featuring everything from a brewery in the terminal to tranquil relaxation zones. It’s often regarded as one of Europe’s most passenger-friendly airports. In global rankings, Munich consistently appears among the top-rated airports for both passenger experience and operational quality. Though not as large in passenger volume as some of the world’s mega-hubs, Munich Airport’s strong infrastructure, airline partnerships, and growing intercontinental reach solidify its role as a key player in international air travel. I filmed this video with the goal of showing aviation enthusiasts or people with a general interest in watching planes what you can see in Munich. Most people can’t travel around the world for a hobby and those who can’t don’t get to see what can be filmed at MUC. This video serves as a way to give people their curiosity fix and to also allow those who love to watch planes to do it from the comfort of their own home!
